⭐️

The Orthoceras, whose name means “straight horn”, referring to it’s characteristic long, straight, conical shell lived more than 400 million years ago. It was an ancient mollusk that is an ancestor to our modern day squid. These creatures could range in size from a centimeter to 14 feet long. The fossils that we find today are all that remain of the shells that once housed these amazing cephalopods.

Fossils in general have long been used as talismans for protection and long life due to their ability to survive for so long.
